2008 SRIXON JUNIOR STATE OF ORIGIN

 The Three Horton Park Juniors (Katlyn Must, Wade Stockill & Lauren Mason) at Presentations with Jack Newton,  

The Srixon State of Origin was played last week at the Newcastle Golf Club. The course had handled the torrential rain over the last week well and looked picture perfect for the eagerly anticipated clash between the best junior golfers from NSW and Queensland. Three out of the ten Queensland players were Horton Park  Juniors. 

DAY ONE MORNING MIXED FOURSOMES

 After NSW's domination of the last 3 years, Queensland were fired up to seek some early wins and extract much needed revenge.  After nine holes of the mixed foursomes, Queensland was ahead in five of the six matches.  The only positive for NSW was the paring of Elle Sandak and Jackson Stuckey who were 2 up over Katlyn Must and Daniel Nisbet.  The morning mixed foursomes contest ended with Queensland winning 4 of the six matches.

 DAY ONE AFTERNOON FOURBALL

The afternoon fourball matches were an opportunity for NSW to save face on day one. NSW were fighting to claw back matches but after 9 holes the fourball matches were evenly poised at 3 apiece.  The weather had turned with rain and wind testing the players skills and patience.  The fourball contest ended with Queensland winning 4 of the matches to rub salt in the wounds of the NSW team.  The progressive score after day one was Queensland 8 matches and NSW 4 matches. 

 DAY TWO MORNING FOURSOMES

After the shock of a hammering on day one, NSW have come out fighting in the morning foursomes with 5 matches either square or up and only one match down after 9 holes.  The morning result saw NSW continue on to win 4 matches to 2 matches.  The progressive total going into the afternoon singles is Qld 10 matches with NSW close behind on 8 matches.

    AFTERNOON SINGLES

NSW having been down for the entire series put up a great fight but were only able to half the afternoon singles to record 14 wins overall to Queensland's 16 wins and for the first time in 4 years Queensland are crowned the 2008 Srixon State of Origin Champions.  The match was in the balance with one match remaining but Katlyn Must, the Queensland girls captain securing victory with a great 2/1 win over the NSW girls captian Elle Sandak.
